What If I Don't Like a Product?

Obviously is proud to work with some of the best brands in the world.  From Saks to Sephora to Major League Soccer and Lyft, we cover every industry and every interest.  We love the brands we work with, and we stand behind every project.  That said.... some things just aren't for everyone.

On (very) rare occasions, I will hear from an influencer who is unhappy with a product or a service they received after already agreeing to collaborate with a brand.  This can be a sticky situation, because influencers are honest people.  They don't want to renege on a commitment, but they also don't want to market anything to their followers that they don't like.  So what to do in this situation?

Fortunately, our policy here is simple: Don't promote anything you don't love.

We're not in the business of misleading people, and you shouldn't be either.  If you receive a product you really don't like, or have a bad experience at an event, or if there is any aspect of your experience that you just can't get behind, you don't have to promote it.  The best thing to do in this situation is to let us know right away, so we can hopefully replace you with someone who does love whatever it is you don't love.  We'll also pass your feedback along to the brand, so they know what went wrong and can work on doing better next time.   All we ask is that you return the product to us. (We'll even send you a label!) There will be absolutely no negative repercussions to you, and your future collaborations will not be affected.

However, there is one stipulation....

Please do not post negative reviews on social media.

I've had influencers ask me if they can make a "fail" video or post about "why something didn't work" and the answer is a hard no.  Negative reviews or comments from Obviously influencers hurt our relationship with the brand (obviously.)  While we respect that everyone has a different experience, we honestly love the brands we work with and our job is to connect them with people who feel the same.  Creating content that bashes a brand rather than simply sending a product back will affect your standing at Obviously.  We need to know that we are collaborating with people we can trust.  As my mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't post about it online." (Or something like that.)

If you have a negative experience, let us know first and we will always go out of our way to make it right for you.   We're on your side and our goal is to make every collaboration incredible for everyone involved.  We hope you love everything you do with us.
