Welcome to 2019!  After a restful holiday, we’re going full speed ahead into the new year, and we can’t wait for all the awesome projects and experiences it will bring.  If you haven’t already checked out our 2019 Influencer Marketing Predictions, now is a great time to get a sneak peek into what’s around the corner.

We want to start the year off right by getting everyone on the same page about how we work, clarifying our existing policies, and answering questions that may have slipped through the cracks. Keeping these guidelines in mind will help collaborations run more smoothly, making the experience even better.

So, without further ado, here are some tips on how you can be our favorite influencer in 2019!

1.) Update Your Info!

If it’s been a while since you’ve updated your mailing address, location, or Paypal email on your Studio profile, now would be a great time to do so.  Just go to “My Profile” in the dropdown menu in the upper right corner of your Studio homepage.

We need this info to be accurate in order to place you on relevant projects, send you product, and pay you. Sometimes, you’ll also be asked to submit your address when you join a project.  Please keep in mind that it is difficult to reroute products after they have been shipped, so if you are traveling or have to change your address, please let your account manager know as soon as possible.

2.) Know our payment policies

We know that payments in this industry can sometimes be sporadic or irregular, but you’ll never have to deal with that from Obviously.  Payments smaller than $1,000 (the vast majority) will always be submitted via PayPal within 15 business days from the end of the project- at the latest.  Payments larger than $1,000 take up to 30 business days to process and are submitted via Bill.com.

Of course, many projects are gift only.  We’ll always let you know up front what the reward is, and we go out of our way to make sure the rewards are excellent. However, if you only want to be contacted with paid projects, please let us know.

Rewards are one per account, so we unfortunately cannot offer additional rewards for two-person accounts. If you receive an email telling you that your award has arrived but you haven’t received it, please contact your account manager right away.

3.) Post before the deadline

Unless otherwise stated in an email from your account manager, you are free to post any time between when you receive your product and the deadline.  The deadline is the absolute final day you can post.  If possible, we highly recommend posting ahead of time just in case any edits need to be made.  The earlier you post the more valuable your content is to the brand.

Also, there is no need to submit your post on our website, or let us know if you posted. (Although you can shoot over an email if it makes you feel more comfortable.)  As long as you post with the correct hashtags, our system will pick it up automatically. So just go ahead and post and then sit back and relax. We’ll let you know when your post has been accepted.

4.) Use the correct hashtags and disclosures for all posts and stories.

Did you know that you should be using #ad or #sponsored for Stories as well?  In the upcoming year, we’re going to be even more dedicated to FTC compliance, so we’ll be letting you know if your stories are missing important brand or disclosure tags.  Using the correct hashtags for the collaboration is also extra important, because it’s how we see your content.

I hope that cleared up some of your questions moving forward. We can’t wait to continue working with you and look forward to making 2019 Obviously’s best year ever.
