Influencer Spotlight: Mary Gui
Confession: I’ve never been thrifting. It wasn’t until after I got to chat with the vintage queen herself, Mary Gui, that I’m adding that to my list of to-dos immediately.

Where are you from?: I was born in China, and came to New York when I was 7.
What is your Instagram/blog page all about?: My Instagram focuses on fashion and style inspiration for the modern day Carrie Bradshaw, with a mix of vintage and modern pieces. I believe that personal style can be the truest expression of oneself, and my page seeks to encourage others to express themselves through personal style. My style is feminine, colorful, and whimsical, and I want to show my audience that fashion is fun, expressive, and individualistic. I also want to breakthrough the thought of "I can't wear this or I can never pull this off" - I believe that it's all about the attitude and how you wear something!
Where do you get inspiration from?: I am very much inspired by vintage fashion, especially the 1950's and 1960's when women dressed so much more feminine and ladylike. I love the delicacy of that time period, and how women always looked put together when they left the house. I am also inspired by other fashion bloggers, my style icon is Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific. For me fashion is very much a feeling, so the way I dress is also inspired by how I'm feeling that day and what I want my clothing to say about myself.
What is your favorite campaign with Obviously and why?: My favorite campaign so far has been the Uniqlo collaboration. I really enjoyed it because it actually pushed me a little bit out of my comfort zone. I always tend to be dressier but love experimenting with different styles, so styling the Uniqlo pieces was really fun for me because I challenged myself to make sportier pieces still look super feminine and colorful. It also didn't hurt that the collaboration was paid! :)
If you could list 3 of your favorite Instagram pages, who are they and why?:
@blaireadiebee - She is my style icon and the epitome of femininity. The way she puts together outfits is pure magic, she truly has personal style and always looks like she walked straight out of a magazine.
@colormecourtney - I love her boldness, her use of color, and how she absolutely embraces herself and lets her personality shine. Her Insta stories are hilarious, and her colorful style always puts a smile on my face.
@chrisellelim - The queen of influencers, she is so inspiring. As a successful businesswoman, wife, and mommy, she shows that you really can have it all. I love her work ethic, her effortlessly chic style, and her genuineness.
What is your favorite place you've traveled?: Last year I went to Koh Samui, Thailand with my family and I absolutely LOVED it. It was the perfect vacation as there was no stress and we were able to just relax. We stayed at the Four Seasons Koh Samui and it was stunning, I had never felt more relaxed and the service was just impeccable.
Your favorite place(s) to take photos?: I love Brooklyn Heights where I live. It's so picturesque with the tree-lined streets and townhouses, plus it never gets crowded!
Favorite social media platform and why? Definitely Instagram - it is the most visual and fashion-focused platform and where I get a lot of my inspiration.
What sets your feed apart from others?: I think my style is what sets me apart - my use of color, unconventional styling, and incorporating unique vintage pieces.
Top 3 apps on your phone?: Asides from Instagram, I use Snapseed, A Color Story, and Facetune the most.
Social media trend you’d like to see less of and why?: I really dislike the mirror selfie pics. I know that they work for some bloggers and certain audiences like them, but they are just not visually appealing to me.
Favorite inspirational quote and why?: I honestly don't really have one, I'm not one to be inspired by quotes in general.
